Equip Axe is one of three skills a Warrior begins with, learned at level 1. It allows the warrior to equip one-handed axes. More importantly, as a general skill, it allows any class using warrior as its secondary to equip one-handed axes.
Notes
- The usefulness of this skill is questionable apart from widening the selection of gear a character can equip. It allows Priest/Warriors to use a higher-damage one-hander, but most Priest/Warriors are better off equipping a Staff for higher weapon DPS and higher magical attack.
One exception is the Rogue/Warrior combo, where Equip Axe affords some flexibility by utilizing Slash's Bleed effect (though less so now that Swords have also been granted the ability to cause Slash's bleed), thus allowing rogues to use the Low Blow/Wound Attack combo with a high DPS weapon (amplified by the level 20 Rogue/Warrior elite, 1-Hand Axe Mastery). Dagger Mastery and Blind Spot, however, provide a greater incentive for sticking with daggers, at least in group play. Solo rogues may find Equip Axe more useful in early levels, as Hide and Sneak Attack are not available until levels 18 and 22, respectively.
- While Equip Axe does not directly affect Knight / Warrior combos in a larger sense, it thematically paves the way for the Knight / Warrior elite skill, Two-Handed Axe Training.
